MEETING AT CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Hockey As sociation was held in Carterton last evening, the president (Mr G. Hayne) presiding over a full attendance of members. It was decided to make a re-draw in the junior competition after the first rotind, and form a third grade with the four B teams, namely, Greytown B, Carterton B, Wesley B and College B. To enlarge this competition primary schools are to be invited to enter teams. i The Greytown junior B were granted permission to change their name to Greytown Scouts. I. Pauling, College Old Boys, was granted a transfer to Wairarapa College. The New Zealand Hockey Association advised that the challenge for the Nordon Cup had been accepted and that the Association should arrange with the holders (Nelson) for a suitable date on which to play. It was decided to write to the Neslon Hockey Association applying for July 15. The Wellington Association is to be invited to send A and B teams to play in the Wairarapa before July 15. If this is not possible, Manawatu are to be invited to send a team before that date. If a representative game cannot be arranged a Possible and Probables match will be played on July 8. The annual North v South match is to be replaced by a series of three games, the team with the best average to hold the “Shield.” The selectors are: North, Mr Stubbings; South, Mr Fisher. . Mr Stubbings, representing the Umpires’ Association, said that he had great difficulty in following the ball owing to failing light in last Saturday’s games, and suggested that two white balls be supplied for the second spell. It was decided to ask clubs to assist the referees in this connection. The Napier Sub-Association wrote inviting senior men and women and a junior men’s team to play at Napier, the return matches to be played later. The letter was held over till the next meeting.
