WHEN SLIMMING

USE WHOLEMEAL BREAD. Were one going to try to slim on bread and butter, it would be well to see that the bread is wholemeal, as this is much less fattening than white bread. Also use a very light spread of butter, except in very cold weather, when more could comfortably be taken. The bread is better taken in the form of toast and always see that it is one or two days old. Two or three slices each meal should be sufficient for one really wanting to reduce, but it is no use expecting results if pastry, pies, cakes, biscuits, boiled or baked puddings are also taken. Take with the bread only such things as an egg or a little lean meat, with fruits for breakfast. A little meat with plenty of vegetables (preferably salads) should be taken for the other meals. Juicy fruits and vegetables are best as adjuncts to slim on with lean meat. Drinking with meals should be avoided.
