WOMEN’S DIVISION

MAURICEVILLE-IHURAUA BRANCH. PRESENTATION TO MRS JERMY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The usual meeting of the Maurice-ville-Ihuraua Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Mauriceville Hall when Miss G. Heckler presided over a large attendance of members. It was reported that the W.D.F.U. Rest Home at Bulls was being well supported by members, there being a full complement of guests booked for some weeks ahead. Miss Heckler appealed to all members to help the R.S.A. Paddy’s Market to be held in Masterton in July. Mrs Wilson and Miss Dagg were appointed delegates to represent- the branch at the Dominion Conference in Wellington next month. Mrs Duncan was appointed to fill Mrs Jermy's place as hon. treasurer to the library. One new member was welcomed. After the business had been concluded a very pleasant social afternoon was held to farewell Mrs Jermy, a popular member who is leaving this district to reside in Ohakune. Among the many present were visitors from Rangitumau and Kppuaranga. Competitions were held and several much appreciated elocutionary items were contributed by Mrs R. Miller. Mrs Duncan presented Mrs Jermy with a beautiful bouquet, the work of Mrs C. Hodgins, and in a few well chosen words wished her the best of luck and happiness in her new home. On behalf of those present Miss Heckler then asked Mrs Jermy to accept a pyrex and silver casserole dish. Mesdames E. J. Wright and R. Miller also spoke, conveying to the guest best wishes on behalf of the Mauriceville district sub-branch of the Plunket Society?" Mrs Jermy suitably replied. A dainty afternoon tea brought the gathering to a closer
