NAVY LEAGUE
LADIES’ AUXILIARY. MEETING IN MASTERTON. A committee meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held in Masterton yesterday, the president, Mrs A. Caselberg presiding. Other members present were: Mesdames A. H. Daniell, A. W. Don, H. W. Baty, W. A. Michael, S. R. Gawith, E. G. Norman, J. C. Forsyth, and the Misses B. Vallance and Cameron. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames H. Mackenzie Douglas, S. Fletcher, F. Whitton and the Misses Maunsell and Gray. A proportion of the subscription due to Wellington and other accounts were passed for payment. It was decided to ask Mr Darroch, secretary of Wellington branch of the Navy League, to pay his annual visit to the Masterton schools in September, immediately after the term holidays. Means of maintaining and increasing interest in the British' Navy and the Navy League, in inland towns, particularly among children, were discussed, and it was decided to suggest that Wellington branch should ask the Education Board to again admit Navy League lecturers to address the pupils of primary schools during school hours; also to suggest that the Education Board be asked to allow a short Navy League address to be included from time to time, in the educational sessions to schools from 2YA. It wtis decided to inquire whether it would be possible to arrange for a suitable programme for a Navy League picture entertainment for school children.
