FEATHERSTON

CORONATION BALL VERY LARGE ATTENDANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a very large attendance at the Coronation ball held last night in the Anzac Hall. The function was most successful, and an enjoyable time was spent in dancing to the music of Udy’s orchestra. Mr C. Buck was M.C. The coronation ceremony was a most brilliant spectacle. Among those present were: — Miss Eileen Cole (Queen), was dressed in white chiffon, embroidered in gold thread, her ladies in waiting being Miss Jeanette Matthews and Miss Nola Cole, wearing lemon marriette. Her trainbearers were G. Cole, T. J. Brandon, K. Wendon, attired in red satin with white ruffs.

Miss Anne Fellingham wore blue taffeta, blue satin train and floral headdress. Her ladies-in-waiting were Miss Betty Smith, attired in powder blue georgette and Miss Hazel Bergh (blue satin). The train-bearers were: Reba and Valerie Fellingham (blue taffeta, trimmed with darker blue). Miss Nancy Corlet wore green net, gold headdress and satin train. Her ladies-in-waiting were Miss H. Corlet and Miss O. Harvey (green taffeta), and her train-bearers Beryl McKay, P. Rendle (green frocks). Mrs McKenzie, black georgette; Miss Card, wine georgette and lace; Miss Eva Card, brown georgette; Mrs W. Thompson, black georgette. Honours list: Mrs Q. Donald. Miss B. Currie, Mrs R. Donald, Mrs G. Brandon, Mrs W. Feast, M. Rae, Mr J. Buck-, Mrs Mellish, Miss Bocket, Mrs Robbins, Mrs J. Matthews, Miss J. Brash, Mrs Lowell, Mrs McKenna, Miss J. Tutbury, Miss L. Ritchie, Mr Alex McLeod, Mrs Jeffrey, Mrs Corlet, Mrs Playle, Mrs Harvey, Mrs Rendle, Mrs S. Grant, Mr J, Garter, Mr R. Hardy, Mr W. Fellingham and Mr Corlett. The four Queens were presented with a token of appreciation from the Plunket Society.

The stage was artistically decorated by Misses Z. and T. Tutbury, B. Corlet, D. Feast, P. Halpin and G. Harkness were pages and wore red and gold. Anne Harkness (red) was the honours page, A. Lowell and M. Cole (blue and red) were the trumpeters, C. Clapshaw, jester, and Ron Badler, sword bearer. The Royal Chancellors were Messrs J. Thompson (Greytown), Fellingham, R. Hardy and Corlet. Euchre Party and Dance. The euchre party and dance held in the Pahautea Hall on Saturday night was well attended. The euchre winners were: Ladies, Mrs P. Warrington 1, Mrs Cade 2. Men, Mr A. Feast 1. Mr H. Freu 2. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr B. Cade and Miss I. Freu.
