CENTURION SUNK
MISHAP ON THE HOOGHLV ALL ON BOARD SAFE. MAILS BEING SALVAGED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 12. The Imperial Airways flying boat Centurion, from Sydney, is reported to have sunk while berthing at an air base on the Hooghly (pear Calcutta). All four passengers and the five members of the crew were saved. Imperial Airways slate that the Centurion was landing when a sudden north-wester lifted the tail of the fly-ing-boat, causing the craft to nose into the water, where it is partially submerged. There were no serious injuries and the mails are how being salvaged.
