WRECKED ON QUEENSLAND REEF ONE MAN HURLED OVERBOARD AND DROWNED. EIGHT OTHERS RESCUED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 11.50 a.m.) BRISBANE. June 11. One man was drowned and eight others narrowly escaped death when the small steamer Atlantic was wrecked last night on Flinders Reef, eight miles north-east of Cape Moreton. The drowned man was hurled overboard when the vessel, which was formerly used as a minesweeper, struck the reef. The crew set fire to the wheelhouse, and kept the fire going with clothing to attract other boats in the vicinity. A fishing boat rescued eight members of the crew.
