WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT ALFREDTON. • (“Times-Age” Special.) At the June meeting of the Alfredton Women’s Institute there was a good attendance of members and visL tors from Hamua. Mrs Hull presided and extended a hearty welcome to those present. The meeting commenced with the Ode to Friendship, followed by the recital of the Institute, Prayer for peace. A demonstration by Miss Cavanagh on making trays with cane was very interesting. Several articles were on exhibition, including baskets, trays and teapot stands. The competitions resulted as follows: —Custard tart: Mrs G. Napier 1, Mrs Weston 2, Mrs Seymour 3. Child’s frock: Miss S. Napier 1, Mrs Dickens 2, Mrs Hutchings 3. Best bloom: Mrs Dickens 1, Mrs Hutchings 2, Mrs E. McLean 3. On the motion of .Mrs Spring a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss Cavanagh for her very interesting demonstration. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Clee, Rolls ancl Hood. The singing of the National Anthem brought the gathering to a close.
