GREYTOWN

ST. LUKE’S GUILD ENJOYABLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most enjoyable social and dance was held in the Greytown Parish Hall, having been arranged by St. Luke’s Ladies’ Guild. The hall was full to overflowing. The programme, which had been arranged by Mrs. H. G. Carter, was as follows. —Pianoforte duets, Mesdames Farley and H. Carter; songs. Mrs. H. Farley. “Come, Sing to me" and “The Birth of Spring”; duet, Mrs. Eccles and Miss M. Eccles, “Old Vienna”; Greytown Ladies’ Glee Choir, “There were Three Merry Travellers” and “Mother McCree"; song, Mr. D. Irwin (Carterton), “I Love a Little Cottage” and “Youth”; songs, Miss M. Eccles, “Chapel Bells” and “Play, Fiddle, Play”; songs, Miss Milichamp (Carterton), “Up the Hill to Bedfordshire” and "The Little Boy that Santa Claus Forgot”; songs, Mr. D. Irwin (Carterton), “The Sergeant-Major on Parade,” “The Stoker.”

There were several dancing competitions, which were won as follows: — Lucky Spot, Miss Milichamp and Mr. D. Irwin; Monte Carlo, Mrs. O’Nealc and Mr. Basil O’Neale; statue dance Misses Gray. Film competition winners were:— Miss Rice; most original (lady), Miss Thompson, men, Mr. R. Fairbrother. The alphabet competition winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Sheddell; men, Mr. R. Fairbrother; consolation, Mesdames Kidd and Knell. The music was supplied by Mrs. H. G. Carter (piano) and Master A. Carter (piano accordion). Miss Irwin contributed an extra. Mr. Shedden acted as M.C. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames Rees and Tully. A happy gathering was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. Personal Items. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. K. Wiggins, their son George and Miss -Isohel Wiggins left today on a motor tour of the North Island. Miss E. Best, of Petone, is a visitor to Greytown for the Bouzaid-Stephenson wedding.'
