The "Daily Herald.” commenting on the killing of Mr. R. M. Tinkler, says it is now only a question of how low British prestige has sunk in the Far East. Britain is reaping the fruits of her policy of yielding to Japanese aggression since 1931. HIGHLANDERS BREAK OUT UNIFORMED JAPANESE BEATEN. CELEBRATING THE KING'S BIRTHDAY. (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) SHANGHAI. June 9. Five Seaforth Highlanders, about to go aboard a British transport leaving for home, jumped off a lorry at Hongkew and beat up a number of uniformed Japanese until they were restrained by British military police. They said this was their idea of celebrating the King’s Birthday
