CLAY TARGET SHOOTING
I MASTERTON GUN CLUB EVENTS. With the idea of interesting and encouraging new and novice shooters in the art of clay target, shooting, the Masterton Gun Club has decided to introduce a series of weekend shoots, the first of which will take place on June 11, commencing at 1.30 p.m. A handsome rose bowl suitably engraved has been donated by one of the local enthusiasts and this has been reserved solely for the novice who has never shot beyond the 14 yard mark. A special shoot in conjunction with the above will be held for A grade shooters. ' An added interest to this competition will be the presence of a lady shooter, Mrs De Touret, of Palmerstor North. Mrs De Touret, who shoots oft the 11 yards mark, breaks the birds very decisively, and her performance: in the handicap events at the North Island West Coast Championships held recently were very creditable. Another visitor will be the Hon. W. E Parry. Mr Parry, who is a first-clas: shot, is very interested in the wel fare of gun clubs. Other visiting shooters will be in attendance from Danne virke, Woodville, Wellington, Pahiatua, Martinborough, Featherston, Pirinoa and Carterton.
The public is cordially invited to the grounds which are situated two miles out on the Te Ore Ore-Bideford Road Those who attend will have the oppor (unity of seeing some of New Zealand’: best shots -in action. There is nc charge for admission.
