CARPENTERS’ AWARD

FORTY HOUR & FIVE-DAY WEEK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Carpenters and Joiners’ Dornin- 1 ion Award, issued today, gives a forty hour, five-day week, with a minimum wage in all three classes of 2s an hour, with Is 6d a day extra for responsibility. Overtime for four hours is to be at time and a half, thereafter double time. Allowances are made for 'country and suburban work. The award comes into force on June 12 and its period is 18 months.
