STRUCK BY SOME MEMBERS OF CONGRESS PROTEST AGAINST ARREST OF RUSSELL. MR TINKHAM’S DEMAND. WASHINGTON, June 7. The Foreign Relations Committee, which was discussing the American neutrality legislation, heard a member of the House of Representatives, Mr Tinkham, who is notoriously antiBritish. He demanded to know whether the unprecedented visit of the King “does signify an entente or military understanding between our Administration and the British Government for the preservation of the British Empire at the expense of American blood and American treasure.” Mr McGranery, member of the House of Representatives, who headed a congressional committee of three which today visited President Roosevelt, protested against the arrest of the reputed Irish Republican Army leader, Sean Russell, stating that the appointment of additional immigration officials was inexcusable. Mr Roosevelt promised to take the matter up with the State Department immediately. Mr McGranery told the Press that 70 members of the House may boycott Friday’s congessional reception to the King and Queen, due to Russell’s arrest.
