A miniature art gallery of more than 50 reproductions of painting by famous artists of England, France, Italy, and Holland, was brought back from England, by Mr R. J. Richards, headmaster of Christ’s College, ChristChurch, for hanging in the school. The prints, bought from the Medici Society, have been ranged in the college gymnasium in their .new frames, which were made in the college carpenter’s shop. There are 18 English paintings covering two centuries, and some done since 1900. They range from a cricket match done by Wilson, in the 18th century, to the work of Christopher Wood and Peter Scott (son of Captain R. F. Scott). He lives in an old lighthouse far out on marshes by the Wash, and paints birds with photographic accuracy. He has a huge aviary. French painting range from Fragonard to Harpignies (20th centry) and Monet represents the impressionists. The Dutch paintings include all the famous names, and there is one Van Gogh. There are nine Italian works, one a piece of Michael Angelo’s frieze in the Sistine chapel. All the prints are big and generous.
