WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
M ATARAWA-DALEFIELD. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of members of the Matarawa-Dalefield Women’s Institute was held ip the Matarawa schoolhouse, Mrs Ross Gallon presiding over an attendance of 29 members. Five new members were elected to the Institute and given a welcome. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs P. Bain for her generous donation towards the Institute banner. An amusing competition arranged by Mrs E. Smith was won by Mrs H. Bain. It was decided that members interested in the Drama Circle meet on alternate Thursday evenings. Competitions were won as follow: — Sewing, Something new from something old, Mrs S. McCarthy -, Mrs A. Brazendale 2, Mrs G. Sadler, 3. Flower competition, Best decorated jam jar of flowers, Mrs F. Groube, 1, Mrs L. Rogers, 2; Mrs A. Brazendale 3. The competitions for July will be Cooking. Best fruit and nut loaf; flowers. best bloom. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames P. Hodder, E. E. Knowles, L. Parker, A. Hodder. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant meeting to a close.
