MODERN CARAVAN

♦ FINE HOME ON WHEELS. y DISPLAYED IN MASTERTON. There was unusual excitement apparent in the parking area of the W.F.C.A. yesterday afternoon when a magnificent caravan was opened for display. The property of Mr E. Newman, representative of Tanner Trailers Ltd., Auckland, this 20ft. caravan de-luxel was inspected by crowds of people, all amazed at the remarkable ingenuity and excellent finish of the comfortable and attractive interior. There are two doors to this house on wheels and three compartments. Theback compartment is the kitchen, complete with a 3-burner petrol cooking range, oven and all —stainless steel sink, ample cupboards and a curtained window over the sink. A folding door in the rear section closes off a compartment containing private conveniences. The view from the kitchen through a curtained doorway shows the real size of the caravan. Seen inside it seems immense with two combined bed and living rooms. The middle section has, in the daytime, one couch, but at night-time two beds in bunk fashion are above the other. There is, too, in this middle room a neat sideboard and a full-length wardrobe. The door of the latter opens and folds across the centre of the trailer, dividing the bedroom off from the front room. The front section is the roomy liv-ing-room. Two couches, or beds at night, are ranged on either side facing a folding but most secure table. Across the front, beneath two windows there is another series of drawers and a built-in radio set. This section is roomy, well-lit and cosy and its neat and attractive appearance would compare with airhost any room in any modern house. There are 46 cupboards and drawers in this beautiful trailer, 7 windows, sleeping accommodation for four people. self-contained water supply, electric generating set. lino-covered floors set off with rugs in harmony with the I real oak finish—altogether a true home on wheels to suit the tastes of the most exacting traveller. Mr Newman himself is a real caravan enthusiast. He is president of the Auckland Caravan Club which has over 60 members and its own camping ground on the Eastern Beach.
