MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE PRESENTATION TO MRS JERMY. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mrs A. Forsberg presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the local Women's Institute. The Ode to Friendship was sung. A letter was read from the Pan-Pacific Conference thanking the Women’s Institute for a donation and urging all members to attend the conference which is to be held in Wellington in January. 1940. Mrs Kelso, organiser of the Home and Country, asked the support of all members for their own monthly journal. Mrs H. Myers gave a very interesting talk on her recent trip to Sydney.
The opportunity was taken of bidding farewell to Mrs Jermy, who will shortly leave the district. The president (Mrs Forsberg) in a happy little speech on behalf of the Institute, made Mrs Jermy a presentation in appreciation of the good work she has carried out in the district in the interests of the Institute. Mrs Jermy suitably replied. The concert committee is making every effort to ensure that the birthday concert and dance will be a success. Personal items. Messrs H. Myers, N. Myers and H. Mortensen are holiday-making in the Rotorua district. Mrs Whitehead, Palmerston North, is the guest of her sister, Mrs O. Nikolaison, Mauriceville West.
