GOLF COMPETITIONS GOOD CARDS RETURNED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The third round for Miss McDougall's trophy was played on Saturday and the results were as follows: — Mrs Herangi. 108, 32, 76; Mrs Sutherland, 106, 29, 77; Mrs Bragg, 109, 30, 79; Mrs Carter, 116, 28, 88; Mrs McKenzie, 125, 36, 89. The following is the draw for the fourth round of Miss McDougall’s trophy to be played on Saturday:—Mrs Cowan v. Miss Cox; Mrs Carter v. Mrs McKenzie; Mrs Herangi v. Mrs Sutherland; Mrs Bragg y. Miss McDougall. The fourth round draw for the Campbell Cup is as follows: —M .Herangi v. S. Thomas; J. Riwai v. F. Lovegrove; W. Charteris v\ R. McDougall; D. Jones v. M. Waiwera; G. Munro v. M. McLeod; S. Hall v.' T. Hume; D. Tikao v. G. Sutherland; K. Waiwera v. J. Carter; B. McMaster v. G. Hall.
Several good cards were handed in for the third round of the Campbell Cup. M. Herangi and K. Waiwera each returned a net score of 66 and 67 respectively. M. Waiwera and S. Thomas were next. Following were the scores:—-M. Herangi, 82, 16. 66; K. Waiwera, 88, 21. 67; M. Waiwera, 89, 17, 72; S. Thomas, 97, 24, 73; B. McMaster, 82, 8, 74; D. Tikao, 86, 12, 74; G. Sutherland, 89, 15, 74; T. Hume, 91, 15, 76; D. Jones, 90, 14, 76; G. Munro, 89, 12, 77; J. Riwai, 92, 15, 77; J. Carter, 99, 20, 79; G. Hall, 102, 20. 82; W. Charteris, 114, 27. 87. The weather, although threatening in the morning turned out ideal for golf on Monday, when a 36-hole bogey match was played by the men for the Sinclair Thompson Memorial Cup. The winner was J. Riwai (4 down) whopreviously won the same event last year. The Mollie Hume Memorial trophy which was played by the ladies over ' 18 holes resulted in a tie between Mrs Sutherland and Mrs Bragg. Playing at the weekend, G. Sutherland defeated J. Carter in the Doughty Cup competition. Personal Items. Mr 'and Mrs O’Neil, Kaiparoro, have been the guests of Mr, and Mrs McIntosh. Nurse Aitchison is staying with her sister, Mrs Bird, for a few days. Mr Martin Hume, who has returned to Wanganui, was a visitor here for the weekend. , ' Mrs Owens is staying with her daughter, Mrs' Gordon Sutherland, Whakatomotomo. Mr lan Tilson was unfortunate in meeting with a nasty accident at Te Kopi recently. As he was walking along a precipice the bank gave way and he was precipitated down the ravine. Mr Tilson suffered severely and had to receive medical attention. Nurses Hall and McCurdy, of the staff of dhe Taumarunui Hospital, and Mr Russell Hall, of the Prisons Department, arrived here early on Sunday morning on a visit to Mr and Mrs S. Hall, Kumenga. They left on their return journey on Sunday evening. Mr Mat McLaren, Norsewood, was a visitor here at the weekend. Mr A. K. Swainson, Wellington, spent the weekend at Kumenga. Mr Percy Halligan, who had been on a short visit to the district has returned home. Green and Gold Ball. A meeting of the social committee of the Green and Gold Ball was held last evening. It was decided to hold the annual ball early in September. Fuller particulars will appear in these columns later. Annual Institute Ball. Readers are reminded of the ball under the auspices of the Pirinoa branch of the Women’s Institute which is to be held on June 27. Arrangements are well in hand and dancers are promised an enjoyable evening. The floor is to receive special attention and a committee of ladies have been deputed to make the suoper arrangements. ■ • '
