Hockey Notes. Local residents were pleased to hear of the success of the Scouts’ team in the five-a-side tourney at Masterton on Monday. Although the win represents a victory in the second division only,- it is a meritorious one. In the final, the local boys were two goals down at half time. The change over brought increased attack and the local boys piled on four goals. The win, by the way. was an exceedingly popular one with the public, and would have ben equally so had the club team been the winners. Greytown's four teams / are all to be warmly congratulated on the excellent manner in which they played. The tournament itself was excellently run and reflects much credit indeed on the organisation. This event is now one of the. most popular events in the Wairarapa on King’s Birthday. The play itself was of a good standard and as time goes on the status of the game is going to increase. The future for Wairarapa hockey is indeed bright. The standard in the junior section is now such that the Men’s Association is going to divide the present teams into two groups, the lower group being called third grade probably. This is a wise move.

The absence of a Greytown ladies’ team was regretted by enthusiasts. It is up to some of the retired players to take the matter up and to place ladies' hockey in Greytown on the plane it occupied when the famous Greytown team was invincible and ranked among the best in the Dominion.

On Saturday, the Scout and Club teams will meet. Both teams are keen to win. Outside teams pick the Scouts to win;'score performances favour the Club team.
