OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

. ADDRESS BY THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER. IMPORTANCE OF FITNESS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.48 a.m.) RUGBY, June 6. The Duke of Gloucester, opening the thirty-sixth session of the International Olympic Committee at St James Palace, said: “A growing realisation of the importance of physical fitness and sane interest in sport is shared alike by all the nations represented here today. To promote friendly rivalry in athletic contests with all the qualities true sportsmanship denotes —such as respect for one’s opponent, modesty in victory and fortitude in defeat —is the most important task of the International Olympic movement.”
