Nine Indians were stabbed and others were injured by blows from bottles and chairs in the course of a riot between passive resisters and active resisters who were proceeding to an Indian Congress meeting, in order to discuss passively resisting the Government restriction on Indian trading. Hundreds of police quelled the riot, which involved many thousands. Many arrests vzere made.
