SILVER WEDDING
MR & MRS F. GROUBE. Saturday last was a memorable occasion for Mr and Mrs F. Groube, of Swamp Road, Carterton, it being the 25th anniversary of their wedding. To commemorate the occasion a party was held at their residence when a number of relatives and close friends gathered to celebrate the event. During the evening a surprise party from Carterton arrived and offered their congratulations to Mr and Mrs Groube on the twenty-fifth anniversary of a happy wedded life. Several speeches were made and Mrs W. Pinfold asked Mr and Mrs Groube to accept and open the par-' cels that had been brought. This was done amid applause, and Mr and Mrs Groube, who were completely taken by surprise, thanked their visitors for their kindness. After games, dancing and competitions had been enjoyed supper was served. A delicious wedding cake was provided for the occasion. The health of Mr and Mrs Groube was drunk and a wish extended for their continued good health and
that they would both live to enjoy such another anniversary at 50 years of married life. The singing of “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” and “Auld Lang Syne” ended a pleasant gathering.
