MINIATURE RIFLES BUSH ASSOCIATION DRAW. The first shoot in the Byrne Shield competition run under the auspices of the Bush Miniature Rifle Association takes place on Tuesday, June 6. Clubs have been busy practising and already the “possibles” and “probables” are being selected by their fellowmembers. Makomako, who have several wins to their credit, and who ran out_winners last season, will be strong contenders again. The executive of the association and all clubs welcome the opening of a club at Ballance, and the re-opening of the club at Eketahuna. It is not

too late in the season for newcomers to join their nearest club and learn as rpuch as they can of the game. They must not be disappointed if they cannot gain entry to the club’s team the first season. Successful shooting calls for great accuracy and the elimination of errors, and these things cannot always be achieved in a season. What a rifleman learns on the miniature ranges will stand him in very good stead when he has the good fortune to shoot on open ranges at greater distances. The draw is as follows, the firstmentioned club in each instance being the home side:—

June 6.—-Mangatainoka v Mangamutu; Makomako v Konini; Hukanui v Ballance; Eketahuna, a bye. June 13. —Makomako v Mangatainoka; Konini v Eketahuna; Hukanui v Ballance; Eketahuna, a bye.
