MAURICEVILLE
FAREWELL GATHERING ■ MR AND MRS NEWMAN AND FAMILY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Last evening the residents of Mauriceville West and surrounding districts gathered to farewell Mr and Mrs F. Newman and family. Dancing was indulged in by the large crowd present, and a dainty supper was served. Mr W. H. Bird, in an appropriate speech, referred to the sterling qualities of the Newman family, and asked Mr Newman to accept from the residents of the district a handsome gift. In the absence of Mr D. Bennett (president), Mr Bird, on behalf of the Mauriceville Sports Club, presented Mr Newman with a set of carvers. Mr Newman suitably replied, and referred to, the many friendships he had made in the district. Mr and Mrs Newman will shortly leave to reside at Lower Hutt.
