CHESS
GAMES IN MASTERTON. VISIT BY GREYTOWN PLAYERS. Members of the Greytown Chess Club spent a pleasant evening at the residence of Mr E. C. Heyder, Pownall Street, Masterton. in playing chess, the results of games being as follow: —Captain Barcham 2 v. Hay 0; Kidd 0 v. Sid Field 2; L. Thompson 0 v. Clemas 2; G. Thompson 21 v. Collier 11; Wood 2 v. Field 0; Maidment 1 v. Heyder 2; Whimp 2 v. Heycks 0. Mr Maidment, on behalf of the visitors, thanked Mrs and Miss Heyder for their hospitality. Mr G. Thompson (Morison’s Bush) asked the members to gather at his residence for the next fortnightly meeting. Mr Clemas Junr., said that his father hoped to revive the Masterton Chess Club and all local players or intending players were invited to forward their names to Mr A. E. Clemas, Cole Street Should enough players be forthcoming no doubt inter-club matches would be arranged with the Greytown and Wellington clubs. i
