WEDDING

JURY—ROYDHOUSE. A wedding of great interest took place last evening at St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, when Betty, only’ daughter of Mr and Mrs R. W. Roydhouse, of Tyne Street, Carterton. was married to John Milsome, only son of Mr and Mrs J. M. Jury, “Glendower." Martinborough. The Rev. W. F. Stent officiated at the ceremony with Mr W. Thomas at the organ. Entering the church with her father, the bride wore a beautiful gown of magnolia satin cut on classical lines. At the deep V-shaped neckline of the softly draped bodice a sprig of orange blossom which had been worn by her mother on her wedding day was caught with an heirloom of gold’and turquoise brooch lent to her by a friend. The full sleeves fitted closely from the elbow were pointed over the hands, and the skirt, slightly ’draped over the hips into vertical shirring flared into a long oval train? Her veil of embroidered tulle was held in place by a halo of pleated tulle and finished with a twist of old pearls and a cluster of orange blossom at either side. She carried an exquisite sheaf of orchids, freezias and irises.

There was a charming interlude as the bride passed down the aisle, when a small friend, little Miss Barbara Forbes, handed her a horseshoe, wishing her luck.

Attending the bride were four ’maids, Miss Betty Gordon Eliott, of Feilding (chief); Miss Isabel Jury, the bridegroom’s sister, and two cousins of the bride, Misses Elaine Prenderville (Wellington) and Valerie Jackson (Carterton). Their frocks were of magnolia French gold-traced sheer, had heartshaped neck-lines and puff sleeves, plaited girdles of gold outlined the minute gathered bodices looping at the back to finish at the natural waistline and the skirts flared fully from the kpees. They wore juliet caps of gold and their flowers were arbutilons, freezias and chrysanthemums in shades of deep cream and gold.

Mr Norman Martin, of Waitawa, Martinborough, acted as best man and Mr Garth Roydhouse, brother of the bride ,was groomsman. The ushers at the church were Mr Leslie Fairbrother, Mr Stuart Cameron and Mr Fitzgerald Eager.'

Mrs Roydhouse received her guests for the reception at the State Hall wearing a gown of amethyst embossed georgette with a long coat and a toque of amethyst chiffon velvet. Her bouquet was of rei'ines and cyclamen. She was assisted by. Mrs J. M. Jury, whose gown was of black. She carried a bouquet of pink and violet flowers.

When Mr and Mrs J. M. Jury Junr. left by car for a tour of the North Island the bride was wearing a’suit of prunella angora with arabesques of velvet under a squirrel coat with a hat to tone and black accessories. Their future home will be at the “Glendower” Station.
