SKETCHY BUDGET

ITALY’S FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES HEAVY ACTUAL DEFICIT. IN PLACE OF ANTICIPATED SURPLUS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, May 31. “The Times” Rome correspondent says that figures quoted by the Italian Finance Minister, Senator Thaon di Revel, further indicate the sketchiness of the budget. He admitted that there would be a probable deficit of £70.000,000 sterling in the current year, whereas the estimates showed a surplus of £4,000.000. He asserted that the deficit vzas due to civil requirements and the debt charges resulting on the Libyan expansion. but he expected that additional extraordinary expenditure would bring the uncovered total to £ 141,000, - 000. He hoped, nevertheless, to produce a budget covering the entire Italian imperial expenditure by means of effective taxation.
