Unfounded Anticipations of Agreement LONDON, May 31. The “Daily Mail’s” Paris correspondent states that the Russian Ambassador, M. Souritz, told the French Foreign Minister, M. Bonnet, that Russia has agreed to join with England and France in a mutual aid agreement. This is understood to provide that, in. the event of England, France or Russia being attacked the others will automatically be involved. All three will aid Poland apd Rumania if these nations are attacked, and they will mutually consult regarding assistance if the Balkan States are attacked. 1 The terms of the proposed agreement, which were submitted by Britain to the Soviet Union after they had been approved by France, have not yet been officially announced. According to “The Times,” they provide for immediate co-opera-tion should any of the three Powers be attacked in the European theatre. The text is said to contain a declaration that the agreement is based on the principles of the League Covenant and is wholly defensive.
