FEATHERSTON COUNTY
APPOINTMENT OF ASSESSOR. PUBLIC MEETING CALLED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Three nominations have been received for the. position of assessor to the Featherston County Council. Those nominated are: Mr T. O. Haycock, formerly of Eastbourne; Mr R. W. MacLaren, stock agent of Martinborough; Mr Andrew Linton,'farmer of Lower Valley. In accordance with the regulations under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925. the election of the assessor is carried out at a public meeting of county ratepayers, and such a meeting has been called for Saturday next, June 3, at the County Council Chambers, Martinborough, at 10 a.m. A large attendance of ratepayers is requested by the council and in accordance with details advertised in this issue, the meeting will commence business promptly at 10 a.m. METALLING CONTRACTS. Tenders are called by advertisement in this issue for two ( metalling contracts in the Featherston County. One contract is for 1400 cubic yards on roads in the Turanganui Riding and the other is for 500 cubic yards on the' Tora Te Awaite Road. Specifications can be seen at the County Office, Martinborough, and the Overseer will meet intending tenderers at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 2, to show them over the work.

Todd, of Dargaville, are visitors to the Wairarapa and are staying with Mr and Mrs D. J. Todd, Daiefield. Mr C. McLean, and Mr and Mrs J. McLean, of Te Awamutu, are staying with Mrs McLean, South Carterton. Mrs F. D. Peters, of Garrison Street, gave an afternoon to Miss Edna McLean yesterday in honour of her approaching marriage. A pleasant time was spent and the guest of honour 'was the recipient of many useful presents.
