A professional boxing match tonight between Norman Fisher (Christchurch) and Ken Wright (Timaru), each weighing 10.1, lasted only three rounds. A nasty cut over Wright’s right eye caused the doctors to stop the bout. Fisher had been ahead on points to that stage in a fast and bright exhibition. The sudden ending was not popular with a section of the crowd, who shouted disapproval of the shortness of the programme.
