COUNTY CHAIRMANSHIP. MR CARRUTHERS RE-ELECTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of,-the Eketahuna County Council the Chairman. Mr J. B. Carruthers, was unanimously re-elected. Mr Carruthers returned his thanks for the compliment paid him, also to the executive officers for their co-op-eration over the past year. RETURNED SOLDIERS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. * At the annual meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr A. ,H. Herbert; vice-president, Mr Murray MorisS; treasurer, Mr W. R. Hornblow (elected on a ballot); auditor, Mr B. McAlister (re-elected): Executive:- from 19 nominations, the following were elected: Messrs Golder, Pryde, Russell, McLaughlin, Renment, Dillon, Hancock, Fox, Daniel, Chambers, Shannon and Bowyer. DEFENCE OF DOMINION. SERVICES OFFERED TO GOVERNMENT. The following resolution received unanimous support at the annual meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association: "That the members of the Eketahuna R.S.A. offer their services to the Government of New Zealand to be used in connection with measures for the defence of our country in any direction the said Government may consider necessary.” YESTERDAY’S STOCK SALE. IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES. There was a better lot of sheep yarded at the Eketahuna sale yesterday than was the case in the previous week and prices,, showed an improvement. A line of good conditioned mixed aged ewes sold on behalf of Mr F. Newman realised 12s 4d.
FOOTBALL TEAMS. TO PLAY AT EKETAHUNA ON SATURDAY. Eketahuna seniors to play Mangatainoka at Eketahuna at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday will be selected from the following:—J. Ryan. Fauvel, Norriss, Carroll. Failover, Oliver, Fafeita, Reynolds, Stone, Lobban, Wattereus, Wairaihana, Low, Johnston, Mitchell, Hausman, Ngateuri, Gordon. The Eketahuna third grade team to play Mangatainoka at Eketahuna at 1.30 p.m. will be as follows: —Anderson, Olsen. Ryan (2), Ramsay, Evans, Braddick, Neilsen. Doney, Murphy, Steer (2), Judd. Kewley, Payne, Fafeita, Curry, Morrison. The team is to assemble on the ground at 1 p.m. Hukanui Miniature Rifles. At the Miniature Rifle Club’s weekly meeting the scores were as follow: — Adults: C.
