Twenty-seven planes again bombed the thickly populated lower city, setting fire to scores of buildings. There were hundreds of casualties. RAIDS ON SHEKKI THREE JAPANESE BOMBERS WIPED OUT. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, May 25. “The Times” Hong Kong correspondent reports further bombing at Shekki. Refugees are flooding towards Macao. Three Japanese bombers, flying in formation, were wiped out when a bullet from a Chinese pursuer exploded. a bomb rack. AREA DEVASTATED AT LEAST A THOUSAND KILLED & WOUNDED. - (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) CHUNGKING, May 25. At least a thousand were killed and wounded. The business area is devastated. Sampans were blown up and bodies are floating down the Yangtse.
