OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
'MASTERTON’S birthday (To the Editor.) Sir,—Re Masterton’s birthday, lam sorry I made a mistake about the date. It should have been May 21, instead of May 24. Mr Bennington is right, as I have never made notes of any sort, always relying on my memory for my articles in your paper. This time it must have been at fault. If I had only looked at my book of cuttings (which I am keeping for future relatives) I would not have made a mistake, for in the issue of the “TimesAge” of October 5, it says that the Dixon party arrived at Worksop Farm on May 21. So that the readers and those who are keeping my articles will have the right date. I well remember Mr N. J. Bennington’s article, and I criticised it at the time. So he and I are one all—l am, etc., CHAS. BANNISTER. Masterton, May 25. PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS (To the Editor.) Sir, —Re my letter on Pedestrian Crossings, may I point out an error in the printing. I wrote: “The young mother, with her pram and toddlers, also demands safety and a margin of time to cross the road,” -not “own the road.” Hoping you will rectify this misprint.—l am, etc.; RETURN OF PRAM PUSHER.
OVERHANGING HEDGES (To the Editor.) Sir,—Could you tell me through the medium of your columns if there is any by-law as regards private hedges and trees growing over on to the public footpaths?—Yours, etc., SHOWER-BATH. Property-owners are required to cut back trees and hedges overhanging footpaths. —Ed.
