HOCKEY

N.Z. WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT. REQUEST THAT IT BE HELD AT MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Women’s Hockey Association was held in Carterton last evening. Mr W. Harding presiding over a good attendance of members. It was decided to apply for the N.Z. Women’s Tournament to be held in Masterton next year. Providing the application is granted this will be the first time that a New Zealand tournament has been held in the Wairarapa. To ensure the success of this venture it was decided to arrange a carnival or something of the nature to raise funds for the Association. The secretary reported that several team cards had not been forwarded and clubs are advised that they will receive no points until the cards are handed in. The selection of trophies for the six-a-side tournament was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. Miss E. McGovern was granted a transfer from College to College Old Girls. Entries for the six-a-side tournament on June 5 were received. Although the entries do not close till today, quite a large number was received, including two. Wellington and Bush teams.
