LADIES’ GOLF

TOURNAMENT AT LANSDOWNE. MISS COLLINS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. A wind of gale force made the conditions most difficult for the finals of the Masterton ladies’ golf tournament' on the Lansdowne Links yesterday and all things considered, the golf was of a high standard . In the final of the championship Miss S. Collins secured a somewhat easy win over Miss J. Hornabrook by four up and three to play. The wind made accurate putting impossible. Miss Hornabrook appeared to be right off her usual game. The Lansdowne Handicap was won by Miss M. Maunsell, who defeated Mrs P. J. Borthwick 1 up and the Masterton Handicap by Mrs P. F. Fagan, who beat Miss Nix 2 up. The second medal round resulted: Senior, Miss E. Jury; junior, Miss Isabell Jury; consolation, Miss Leslie Beetham. Putting, first day, Miss E. Barton; second day, Mrs R. H. Plummer.

The results of the semi-finals played yesterday morning were as follow: —

Open championship: Miss Collins beat Miss D. Todd, 2 up; Miss Hornabrook beat Mrs Horner, 4/2. Lansdowne handicap: Mrs Borthwick beat Mrs Allan Park, 4/2; Miss M. Maunsell beat Mrs F. Tatham, 1 up. Masterton handicap: Miss Nix beat Miss L. Beetham, 5/4; Mrs Fagan beat Mrs B. P. Perry, 4/3.
