WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING. ' I BIRTHDAY PARTY ARRANGED. 1 ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the i Farmers’ Union 'held yesterday. Mrs . Beu presided and several apologies for i absence were received. Mrs Beu wel- < corned three new members, Mesdames i Bell, Kearney and Barr. i The receipt of used stamps which had been given by Mesdames Balfour, McGarry and F. C. Bunny, were acknowledged by Mrs Beu. They are to be sent to various children’s homes in New Zealand. The annual birthday party was arranged for June 21 at 2 p.m. Advice had been received regarding the Rest Room from the council, asking members of the branch to set up a committee to meet the Mayor and ToV/n Clerk to go into the matter thoroughly. . The scone competition caused a considerable amount of interest. The winners were: —White scones: Mrs A. York; brown scones, Mrs Fairbrother. The prizes had been donated by Mesdames D. Ingley and Tilyard. Mesdames Horton and Gregor were ■ the judges. Mrs Beu reported on the hospital party which was held last month for inmates of the Buchanan Home and thanked Mrs H. G. Carter for arranging the gathering. Members are reminded to bring a plate for the birthday party for June 21. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Tilyard, McGarry, L. J. Thompson and W. Wenden. State Houses. , Good progress has been made by the contractor for the nine State houses being erected in Greytown. Favoured with good weather all the foundations have been completed and the walls have been erected on three dwellings. One house has been roofed. R.S.A. Meeting. The Greytown branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association is holding its annual meeting tonight. Euchre Party. There was a large attendance at the euchre party held in the Fire Station on Wednesday evening. The prizewinners were: —First, Mrs E. Peterson and Mr Meharrie; second, Mrs Duder and Mr Nahona. Hospital Improvements. On Saturday several members of the ’ Hospital Board visited the Greytown 1 Hospital and decided to plant the area behind the building with gum trees and other ornamental shrubs. They 1 also decided to lay out the sections in ’ front of the main hospital recently ta- ; ken over from the Town Lands Trust. It is proposed to erect a motor gara’ge on this ground for the medical staff. Personal. f) Mrs R. Vartha and her small daugh- - ter, Valda, are at present staying with Mrs Vartha’s sister, Mrs R.
