The Masterton A. and P. Association’s annual ball will be held in the Municipal Hall, Masterton, on Wednesday, July 19. King’s Speech.
The King’s speech arranged by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to commemorate the visit of their Majesties to Canada, was received very clearly in Masterton per medium of the rebroadcast arranged by the New Zealand national stations this morning. Church Delegate.
The convener of the life and work committee of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev R. S. Watson, has been advised by the Rev JSMacdonald Webster, D.D., general secretary of the
colonial and Continental committee of the Church of Scotland, that the Rev Professor John Baillie, D.D.. D.Litt., S.T.D.. Professor of Divinity at Edinburgh University, will be the delegate from the Church of Scotland to the Centenary Assembly at Wellington next. February. It is expected that Dr Baillie will be in New Zealand for two months, and it is hoped that he will visit many of the churches. His wife and son will probably accompany him. An invitation to the assembly has been sent to the Chinese Christian leader.
