LOSSES DURING LAST THREE YEARS STATEMENT BY FARMERS’ PRESIDENT. FALL IN PRODUCTION & EXPORTS At the Inter-Provincial Conference of the Farmers’ Union today, the president/Mr Lloyd Hammond) said that the farming area which had gone out of production in the last three years totalled 121,404 acres, while fern and scrub growth in the last three years had increased by 187,562 acres. Dairy cows had decreased by 78,710 and pigs by 51,997 in the last three years. Wool production had gone down by 7,500.000 lbs. Exports in three years had decreased from an excess of £12.612,000 to £3,458,000.
