NO DECISION AS TO FUTURE

LORETTA YOUNG TO GO TO EUROPE. Loretta Young's ’ contract expires with her current picture, “The Life of Alexander Graham Bell,” and she states that she will go to Europe for six months and bury herself in some tiny village and there “look into the look-ing-glass and see reflected everything that has happened to me in the past 10 years.” She states she will make no decision as to her future until she has time to take full stock of herself. Loretta reveals that she was ready to give up and leave Hollywood. That was back when she nau a part in Lon Chaney’s “Laugh, Clown, Laugh.” It was her first big chance, and. she was trying very hard. Things were not going right, the director was irritable, and she took it personally , She rushdd behind a set and cried hep eyes out. There she was found by Lon Chaney, who talked soothingly to her until he had quieted her, and when he saw that she was in a mood to listen gave her a gentle lecture which “revealed not only the innate goodness of the man, but also gave me courage and the philosophy to carry on.” Loretta is a veteran, but still is a young woman; she is only 26.
