SHIRLEY TEMPLE
HER FIRST REAL LEADING MAN. Hollywood’s first lady, Shirley Temple, is to get her first real leading man in her next picture, “Susannah.” And heds to be 100 per cent American —he is a full-blooded Red Indian of the Blackfoot tribe. Just 13, Martin Goodrider —he says his name means just what it says —reported to Fox studios for the role of Shirley’s leading man and didn’t seem particularly thrilled at meeting his leading lady. His part is almost as important as hers. The two youngsters eyed each other suspiciously before they would talk, but soon they found common ground, when Martin told her of the “swell I murders in Frankenstein.” Shirley then showed him some toy machineguns, and they were bosom friends. Martin attends a' Catholic mission on an Indian reservation. He does not want to be a movie actor for good. He says he hopes to become a Jesuit priest one day.
