The links are in splendid order at the present time and the recent rain has made - it possible to play*to the greens with greater confidence. More interest is being taken than in former years in the club and the increase of 25 new members must be nearly a record for the club. The. new lay-out of the course is certainly more interesting as the holes are better spaced and more sporty. The majority of the players are pleased with the change. The first round of the mixed foursome for the president’s trophy, played last Saturday, created great interest. Despite the fact that a number of players were unavoidably absent and a number of other mejnbers were suffering from colds, 42 players turned out and some excellent scores were handed in. This trophy is for the best net round on handicap, over three rounds. The leaders on Saturday were Mrs Ross and G. Brunton, whose score of 94-24-70 will take a lot of beating. The best score off the stick was done by Mrs Horner and E. Maddison with 88 and these players are to be congratulated on their excellent play. The following players have had their handicaps reduced: —T. Gold to 12/9 and transferred to the senior section; H. G. Carter to 15/11, N. S. McLeod to 16/12 and J. W. Tate to 17/12. These golfers have been playing good golf for some weeks and look like having their handicaps further reduced. Guy Brunton, who has not been golfing for a couple of seasons, is playing really well, and hitting a nice tee shot. He will have to be reckoned with in his section. Some of the new members are shaping well, particularly C. Burch, who looks like making a useful player. With a little coaching he and other new members will quickly improve and reduce their handicaps. The Masterton professional, Keith Williams, will coach at Greytown next week and members are advised'" to take advantage of this and hand in their names for lessons. B. Kiernan, who has been playing on the Lansdowne links, had his first two rounds of the season on the local links at the weekend. In the morning round he equalled the official course record with a score of 73. He played all his shots well, and had the approaches to the greens been in better order would have improved on these rounds. Miniature Rifles Team. The Greytown miniature rifle team to shoot at Featherston tonight is as follows, cars leaving at 7.15 o’clock: — R. Tilson, G. Rhodes, B. Rhodes, R. Ingley, Miss C. Gray, Miss D. Roband, Miss J. Morgan, Miss G. Gray, R. Hood, R. Te Whaiti, Miss L. Gray, H. Brockett, W. Fuge, Miss A. Gray, Mrs Parker, I. Te Whaiti. Dairy Company Receiving Milk.
