The honorary medical staff at the Christchurch Public Hospital is at present quite prepared to carry on its work indefinitely, but in the meantime is not agreeable to discuss the question of remuneration in respect of duties in relation to hospital benefits under the Social Security Act. This information was contained in a report presented to the Hospital Board this morning by the chairman of the Hospital Committee, Sir Hugh Acland. The report mentioned that the chairman of the board. Mr L. B. Evans, had interviewed the chairman of the honorary staff, who had stated the position. Sir Hugh's report added that the Hospital Boards Association had suggested that negotiations should proceed between each board and the members of its honorary staff, but the staff chairman had replied that he had nothing further to say.
