COOKING BY GAS
DEMONSTRATION IN MASTERTON. The advantages and efficiency of cooking by gas were demonstrated in the Municipal Social Hall yesterday afternoon by Mrs E. Hankins, of the Palmerston North Municipal Gas Department. The hall was attractively arranged for the occasion, many of the latest types of gas cookers and other gas appliances being on view. An impressive feature was a clock indicator which showed at a glance the amount of gas used by the two cookers for the evening’s demonstration. Mrs Hankins had many useful hinls to impart in regard to securing the most economical and efficient service from a gas cooker and also gave many new recipes. The cakes and small goods made and cooked by the demon - strator found a ready sale among the public. Mrs Hankins is giving another demonstration this afternoon, when a complete dinner, besides small goods, will be cooked and this evening at 7.45 o’clock she will demonstrate principally with sponge cakes and fancy biscuits.
