GARDEN CIRCLE. CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW. (“Times-Age” Special.) Garden Circle members held their chrysanthemum show in the Parish Hall when, considering the dry season experienced, the entries were very good—both in the cut blooms and the decorative classes, while the novice class showed some fine work. There was a fair attendance of visitors, who were much impressed with the progress made by the Circle. Mrs H ,E. Webb and Miss K. Martin judged the decorative classes, and Mrs Blundell and Mrs Cherryman judged the cut blooms. The awards were as follow: —Disbudded Chrysanthemums.—White: Mrs McAlpine 1, Mrs Knell 2. Cream: Mrs McAlpine 1, Mrs A. Tyler 2. Yellow: Mrs Herrick 1, Mrs Tyler 2. Gold: Mrs McAlpine 1, Mrs Tyler 2. Pink: Mrs •McAlpine 1 and 2. Bronze: Mrs Boyd 1. Red: Mrs Tyler 1 and 2. Natural Sprays, Single.—White: Mrs S. Chapman 1, Mrs Boyd 2. Pink: Mrs Cdtter 2. Double, White: Mrs Boyd 1, Mrs Tyler 2. Bronze: Mrs Boyd 2. Class for Novices.—Decorated Bowl: Mrs Hardinge 1, Mrs Chapman 2. Hand Posy: Mrs Knell 1, Mrs 'Pryor 2. Vase of Flowers: Mrs Hardinge 1, Mrs Chapman 2. Golf Club Competitions. The best cards handed in by members of the Martinborough Golf Club after a Stableford handicap on Saturday were: — Senior—H. F. Harvey 28-4-32; M.' Perry 22-9-31. Junior—N. C. D. Mason 17-18-35; W. Arthur, A. B. Martin. Personal Items. Miss Constance Kent has relinquished duties as Sister-in-charge at Tiri Private Hospital. Before returning to her home at Pongaroa she will visit friends in Martinborough and Greytown. Mr and Mrs Gerald Bailey, who have been spending a few days in Martinborough, have returned to Wellington.. A dinner was tendered to Mr Bill Jury at the Club Hotel last Fridayevening in honour of his approaching marriage to Miss Betty Roydhouse. Mr and Mrs Roy Burch, of Tawaha, will leave this week on a holiday trip to Australia. At a party given at Mrs E. Herrick's residence on Saturday evening Mr Corfield took the opportunity to announce the engagement of his daughter Doris, to Mr Eric Chadwick, of North Auckland. Friends present congratulated the engaged couple and musical honours were accorded them.
