WRESTLING
A WILLING BOUT. WIN FOR KIRCHMEYER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Two fine big wrestlers met at the Wellington Town Hall last night—Rollend Kirchmeyer, 6ft. 7in. tall, 17st. 81b. heavy, and Ignacio Juan Jose Nicolas Alberto de Jesus Navinete de Martinez, 6ft. 4in., 18 stone. To set them off, the referee was Mr Alf. Jenkins, standing sft. 4in. in gym. shoes. Kirchmeyer won on points, after Martinez had taken a fall with a corrigan body-slam in the fourth round, and had yielded one to Kirchmeyer’s “python’s clutch” in the sixth. The bout was willing, and for the most part scientific. There was considerable activity in the two closing rounds, but no falls. The wrestlers had set a hot pace throughout and both were plainly feeling the strain. Kirchmeyer had the better of the final exchanges, and was awarded the decision on points.
