SATURDAY’S FOOTBALL. WIN FOR PONGAROA. (“Times-Age” Special.) Both of Saturday’s matches were played on the Pongaroa Domain, and resulted as follows: —Pongaroa 3, Tiraumea 0; Pukehinau 12, Coast 3. Pongaroa had a well earned victory over last year’s competition winners. After a good hard forward game, a penalty goal kicked by M. Murphy decided the issue. Mr D. McDonald controlled the game. Coast put up a good performance against the much heavier Pukehinau team, the score at j half-time being three to nil in Coast’s favour. In the second spell, however, Pukehinau, dominated the play, tries being scored by J. Meech, D. Bowie and P. Barker, and a penalty goal kicked by L. Bowie. Mr W .Thomas was the referee.

A match between the President’s and Captain’s teams will be played next weekend.
