TRAMCAR COLLISION

DAMAG| MAY AMOUNT TO £5OO. CONDITION OF INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Damage to the two tramcars which collided at Island Bay on Friday night may amount to £5OO. The manager, Mr M. Cable, said on Saturday that there was nothing he could say about the accident at present. A departmental inquiry was being held this week. It was the first accident of the kind for a long time on the Wellington tramway system. Mr F. Mooney, mbtorman, 16 Chatham Street, who suffered concussion and shock, and Mr S. Pomeroy, dock worker, 346 The Esplanade, Island Bay, who received injuries to his back and right foot, are still in the Wellington Public Hospital. Their injuries are not serious and they are progressing favourably. Mr C. F. ‘Karsten, conductor, 5 Liverpool Street, and Mr W. Manttan, gardner, 118 Clyde Street, who were taken to hsopital after the accident, were able to go home after treatment. Three other people were injured to a lesser extent with cuts and bruises, one receiving a sprained qnkle. They were attended to by a St John Ambulance Association member who. living nearby, was on the scene of the accident soon after it occurred. lie also gave first-aid treatment to the four who were taken to hospital.
