WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
MR W. G. BAIRD APPOINTED TO FILL VACANCY. A meeting of the Masterton West School Committee was held on Thursday night, Mr F. Shearer (chairman) presiding. It was decided to use the wood obtained from the trees that were lopped on the school grounds for fuel at the Side School. Accounts totalling £33 13s Id were passed. A donation of £4 was received from the Railway Tennis Club for the use of the courts. Mr W. G. Baird was appointed to the committee to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr W. A. Clarke, who has taken over the duties of secretary. Referring to requirements at the Side School, Mr Shearer said he thought that more requests could be made in that respect than had been the case in the past. The Wellington Education Board advised that a division wall would be placed in a classroom at the Side School to make it into two rooms. The board also approved the supplying of four desk blackboards for the Side School.
