FIVE KILLED
EXPLOSION AT WOOLWICH ARSENAL. SECOND IN TWO DAYS. By/ Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, May 18. The War Office announces that five men were killed and six injured as a result of an explosion at Woolwich Arsenal which occurred during the loading of a 3.7 anti-aircraft gun. Some of the victims were members of the Military College of Science at Woolwich. ’ This is the second explosion in two days. Another man has died as a result of explosion, bringing the death-roll to two, with two injured. A London message published on Thursday stated: One man was killed and three injured by an explosion in the cartridge shop danger area at Woolwich Arsenal. Fire broke out, but was extinguished by the arsenal brigade. The War Office has ordered an immediate secret inquiry.
