RECEPTION PLANS
VISIT TO UNITED STATES OFFICIAL ITINERARY. FUNCTIONS IN WASHINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, May 18. The State Department today published their Majesties’ itinerary in the United States. They will be met at Niagara Falls on June 7 by Mr Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, Sir Ronald Lindsay, the British Ambassador, and various members of the British Embassy and American officials, including the highest ranking army and naval officers who will act as the King’s aide-de-camps during his stay in the United States. The Royal party will arrive at Washington at 11 a.m. on June 8, where they will be met by the President and MrsRoosevelt at the railway station and by a reception committee consisting of members of the Cabinet, the Chief Justice, Mr Hughes, and high ranking military and naval officers and their wives.
Military honours will be rendered, including a military escort to the White House, where a diplomatic reception will take place and following this a small informal luncheon. Their Majesties will then tour Washington sightseeing. They will attend a garden party at the British Embassy late in the afternoon and a State dinner at the White House in the evening. ' On June 9 their Majesties will receive members of the British colony at the Embassy and 1000 members of Congress at the Capitol at 11 a.m. After this they will proceed to Mt Vernon with President and Mrs Roosevelt on the Presidential yacht. The King will lay a wreath‘on the grave of the Unknown Soldier. Their Majesties will give a dinner in honour of President and Mrs Roosevelt at the British Embassy in the evening and at 11.30 p.m. they will entrain for New York. On June 10 the King and Queen will detrain at New Jersey and board a destroyer for New York, where they will be welcomed by the Mayor, Mr La Guardia, and Mrs La Guardia, at the Battery. They will then proceed to the World's Fair, where they will lunch, afterward visiting the British pavilions. In the afternoon the King and Queen will visit Columbia University and from there they will motor to Hyde Park, President Roosevelt’s estate. They will spend the day of June 11 there, departing at night for Canada.

The “Daily News,” in a leader today entitled “Queen Elizabeth,” pays a remarkable tribute, saying: “She is a gracious and beautiful lady as well as Queen of the British. We would like to point out that England’s greatest Queen was also named Elizabeth, “The British Empire’s luck seems to be bearing up better than many people suppose judging from the present Sovereigns.”
